Charlotte Bobcats (32-42) vs. Orlando Magic (47-28)
Friday, April 1st, 2011 7:00PM EST
Line: Orlando -10
Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Charlotte
- The Bobcats continue to impress by winning their last four games, keeping them alive in the playoff hunt. Being just one game behind Indiana’s eighth spot, the Bobcats will have a tougher task when heading to Orlando.
- Charlotte is dealing with a load of injury problems and are likely to be without Stephen Jackson (hamstring) when the crew takes on the Magic. The Bobcats will need players such as Gerald Henderson to help keep their post-season hopes alive.
Orlando
- Orlando has somewhat been under the radar lately, winning six out of their last ten games. The team has recently lost their last two games, but have a good chance of snapping the streak when the Bobcats come to town.
- Jameer Nelson has returned from his knee injury and put up 20 points and five assists against Atlanta on Wednesday. Nelson logged in 38 minutes, so it looks like Orlando has regained solid depth in their back court.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Charlotte will need to prove their resilience when taking on Orlando. The Magic will find it easy to score on the Bobcats’ defense, it will be interesting to see where the Bobcats will find their scoring when playing without Stephen Jackson. Orlando is also 11th in the league this season in points allowed, giving up less than 97 points a game.

Milwaukee Bucks (30-44) vs. Indiana Pacers (34-42)
Friday, April 1st, 2011 7:00PM EST
Line: Indiana -2
Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Milwaukee
- Milwaukee’s playoff hopes will remain very much alive if they can pull out a tough victory in Indiana. The Bucks are three games back and are coming off a win against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.
- Bucks’ guard Brandon Jennings picked up his game in his recent outing, scoring 25 points in the win. Drew Gooden did a solid job off the bench grabbing 11 boards. The Bucks are last in scoring this season, averaging 91.6 points per game.
Indiana
- Indiana has won their last two games and have a slight hold onto the final eighth spot in the eastern conference. The Pacers picked up a much needed win against Detroit on Wednesday, Darren Collison led the team with his 20 points and three assists.
- The Pacers are seeing solid help coming from their bench lately. Josh McRoberts had 15 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks in his last game. Indiana will need their bench to continue being solid if they hope for a win against the Bucks.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
The Bucks should be able to contend well with the Pacers when heading to Indiana. Milwaukee looked solid in their recent win, Michael Redd finally came back from injury and scored five points in his limited playing time. This contest should come down to the wire between these two.

San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
Thursday March 31, 20111 8 PM EST
Line: LA -1.5
The defending World Series Champions start out their title defense against their rival, the Dodgers. The Giants had an amazing season last year with great pitching from both their starters and their relievers. Nothing has changed about their starters or their relievers, except for the fact that closer Brian Wilson will not be available for the first few games. This means that setup man Sergio Romo will handle most of the closing duties. On the offensive side of the ball, there has been a few changes. Utility man Juan Uribe was a huge part of the Giants run last year, and ran down to LA for a 3 year contract after the Giants would only give him 2 years. The Giants also lost SS Edgar Renteria who was the World Series MVP last year. The Giants brought in SS Miguel Tejada to replace Renteria, and brought up 1B Brandon Belt so that Aubrey Huff can play outfield with OF Cody Ross out for 3 weeks. Belt was 2nd on the Giants with 71 ABs this spring, and hit .282 with 3 HRs and 13 RBIs. He figures to be a huge part of their lineup. 3B Pablo Sandoval dropped 30 pounds this season as he had little impact on the Giants World Series run during the playoffs. He has looked agile in the field, and hit .280 during the spring. The one man who doesn’t get recognized quite as much as he should is 1B/OF Aubrey Huff who led this team in nearly every offensive category. Huff led the team with a .290 average, 26 HRs, 86 RBIs, .385 OBP, and 165 hits.
The Dodgers did not go out and add a hole bunch onto their roster. They did get Juan Uribe from the Giants, got Marcus Thames, and also added Jon Garland. Garland will start out the season on the DL though. For the Dodgers, a lot of focus will be placed on OF Andre Eithier who was on an absolute tear last year before he broke a finger. He still managed to hit .292 with 23 HRs and 82 RBIs. OF Matt Kemp was another huge part of the Dodgers lineup with 28 HRS and 89 RBIs, which were team highs. This team will really need to improve upon its pitching. Their starters going into this season look better than they have in some time. Kershaw, Billingsley, and Lilly are a potent 1-2-3. The questions lie in the back side of the rotation as well as with the bullpen.
What to watch for:
- 2 time NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum is on the hill for the Giants. Timmy had his struggles last year, but still managed a 16-10 record with a 3.43 ERA. He did finish the spring 3-0.
- Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw is getting himself into the NL Cy Young conversation to start the season. He is only 23 and was 13-10 last season with a 2.91 ERA.
- Since the Giants are facing a lefty, I look for a right handed hitter to step up. What easier choice than C Buster Posey, the defending ROY. Posey hit .305 last season in 108 games with 18 HRs and 67 RBIs.
- For the Dodgers, look out for OF Andre Eithier. He is 28, and is in his prime. This guy got off to a huge start last year, before he got injured. If Eithier can stay healthy, watch out.
Baseball picks tend to come down to starting pitching and bullpen relief. The starting pitching in this game is top notch. Both starters can easily figure to see themselves in the NL Cy Young talks at the end of the year, barring any injuries. The difference in this one will be bullpen relief. Don’t expect these pitchers to go complete games to start off the season. Both will be lucky to see the 8th. I like the Giants bullpen a bit better, even without closer Brian Wilson.

Detroit Tigers at New York Yankees
Thursday March 31, 2011 1:05 PM EST
Line: Yankees -1.5
Opening day baseball gets underway with a great American league battle. Detroit hasn’t made the playoffs since 2006, while the Yankees have made the playoffs each of the last 2 seasons. For the Tigers, the media got involved early with the Miguel Cabrera DUI incident. Cabrera hit .311 during the spring with 4 HRs and 16 RBIs. Cabrera will have a huge impact as to how far this years Tigers team goes. Cabrera lead the team in nearly every offensive category last season. He hit .328, with 38 HRs, 126 RBI, and 111 Runs. The Tigers did go out and add C Victor Martinez, and that should have a huge impact on their lineup. Martinez hit .292 during the spring with 10 RBI.
The major headlines for the Yankees in the offseason was the signings of SS Derek Jeter and closer Mariano Rivera. This years Yankee team will look a lot like last years team except for the additions of 3B Eric Chavez and OF Andrew Jones. 2B Robinson Cano continues to improve his game. Last year he hit 29 HRs and brought in 109 RBIs all while hitting over .300. Many sports analysts are going out and declaring Cano the early favorite for the AL MVP.
What to watch for:
- Justin Verlander gets the nod for the Tigers to start things off. Last season he finished 18-9 with a 3.37 ERA. Many analysts have Verlander winning the AL Cy Young. During the Spring, Verlander was 3-0 with a .96 ERA in 28 IP.
- CC Sabathia put up Cy Young stats last season with a 21-7 record and an ERA of 3.18. Sabathia only threw 16.1 innings during the spring, but did get a win in there.
- A lot of questions will be revolving Yankees OF Curtis Granderson. Granderson only was able to play in 136 games last season as he battled some injuries. He hit .247 with 24 HRs and 67 RBIs. Granderson’s average has gotten lower and lower the last 3 seasons.
- The Tigers got a lot out of OF Austin Jackson last year as he hit .293 with 4 HRs and 41 RBIs, and had 27 stolen bases. Jackson is a speed guy and covers a ton of ground in the outfield.
Baseball is finally back and what a matchup to kick off the season. These two starting pitchers both will compete for the AL Cy Young without a doubt. Both teams also have players that can compete for the AL MVP. For the Tigers, 1B Miguel Cabrera put up huge numbers last year and will need to maintain this year if he wants to be in the race. Yankees 2B Robinson Cano is the next big thing officially and could even be called the most feared Yankee hitter. Cano improved in almost every statistical category last season while playing very solid 2nd base.

Houston Rockets (39-35) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (38-36)
Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 7:00PM EST
Line: Philadelphia -3.5
Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Houston
- Houston outscored the Nets last night 112-87, bringing home their 39th victory of the season. They will now have to head down to take on the defensive and athletic Sixers in Philadelphia. Kyle Lowry tore it up last night for the Rockets, with 16 points and 10 assists in the win.
- Kevin Martin is averaging 23.2 points per game for the Rockets this season, his scoring will be heavily needed when facing the Sixers. Houston will also need their inside player, Chuck Hayes to continue being aggressive in the paint.
Philadelphia
- The Sixers are coming off a strong win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, defeating them by 12 points. Philadelphia is allowing 97.7 points per game this season, so it will be interesting ot see how their defense matches up against Houston.
- Thaddeus Young continues to put up great numbers while coming off Philadelphia’s bench. Young is averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds this season. In the team’s recent win over Chicago, Young had 21 points and seven rebounds.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Philadelphia should be able to find solid scoring against Houston’s defense in this game. Philadelphia will need to limit their careless turnovers will relying on the mid-range stroke of Brand and three-point shooting of Jodie Meeks. This should be a competitive outing between these two teams, as they can both find different ways to score on offense.

Golden State Warriors (32-42) vs. Memphis Grizzlies (41-33)

Line: Memphis -10.5
Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Golden State
- The Warriors won on Sunday against the Washington Wizards, with Monta Ellis leading the team with his 37 points and 13 assists. David Lee also put up a great performance for the Warriors, scoring 33 point and grabbing 12 rebounds.
- The Warriors will need to score the ball with their speed and perimeter shooting. Memphis should be able to give them some troubles in the paint in this game.
Memphis
- The Grizzlies are huge favorites in this contest after scoring a tremendous win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. Zach Randolph tore it up in the paint, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
- Memphis is 12th in scoring this season and 19th in rebounds per game. The Grizzlies should look to feed Randolph plenty in this contest, testing Golden State’s interior defense.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Memphis should be able to put this game away if they remain consistent on defense. The Warriors can surely score the ball in spurts, but will be coming off a competitive game against the Thunder the night before. The Grizzlies are also looking great offensively in their recent games.

Memphis is also 1 game behind New Orleans. Portland has won 6 out of 8, and are coming off a 100-92 win over the Spurs. The Hornets on the other hand have been playing .500 ball as of late winning 3 of their last 6. They are fresh off a 102-84 road loss to the Lakers.
Stats to consider:
Portland Trail Blazers:
- Portland is 43-31 with a 17-21 road record.
- Points per game: 96.4 (23rd)

- Assists per game: 20.5 (21st)
What to watch for:
- Portland PF LaMarcus Aldridge leads the team with 21.9 PPG and is 2nd with 8.6 RPG. LA is coming off his first game scoring under 10 points since late January.
- Portland SF Gerald Wallace is 3rd on the team with 15.4 PPG and 7.7 RPG. Wallace has scored 54 combined in his last 2.
- It is reported that Hornets PF David West sustained a torn ACL in the win against the Jazz. West is the Hornets leading scorer with 18.9 PPG and is 2nd with 7.6 RPG.
- PG Chris Paul is the 2nd leading scorer with 16.3 PPG and leads the team with 9.8 APG and 2.4 SPG.
This sports pick will have an injury as the focus. Hornets PF David West has been huge scoring and rebounding the ball for the Hornets. PF Carl Landry has filled the spot decently, but he is no David West. The Hornets will need other players to step it up in the absence of West. On the other hand, Portland is starting to piece together a nice squad with SG Brandon Roy coming off the bench. SF Gerald Wallace has come in and made an instant impact as well.

Golden State Warriors at Oklahoma City Thunder
Tuesday March 29, 2011 8:00 PM EST
Line: Oklahoma City -10
The Golden State Warriors come into this matchup with a 2 game winning streak. Both of those wins did come at home, and they were against Toronto and Washington. Prior to their current 2 game win streak, they had lost 6 straight. These two teams met in mid February at Golden State and the Thunder came away with a 100-94 win. The Thunder now have won 9 of their last 10, including 3 straight. There one loss did come against Toronto at home, although that game happened to be the game after Kevin Durant rolled his ankle.
Stats to consider:
Golden State Warriors:
- The Warriors are 32-42 with a 9-28 road record.
- Points per game: 103.3 (7th)
- Points allowed per game: 106.1 (29th)
- Rebounds per game: 40.3 (24th)
- Assists per game: 22.5 (8th)
Oklahoma City Thunder:
- The Thunder are 48-24 with a 27-10 home record.
- Points per game: 104.4 (5th)
- Points allowed per game: 100.8 (18th)
- Rebounds per game: 42.3 (9th)
- Assists per game: 20.4 (23rd)
What to watch for:
- Warriors SG Monta Ellis leads the team with 24.3 PPG and 2.2 SPG. Ellis has had 2 straight double-doubles.
- Warriors C David Lee is 4th on the team with 16.2 PPG and leads the team with 9.5 RPG. Lee is coming off a 33 point 12 rebound game.
- Thunder SF Kevin Durant leads the team with 27.7 PPG and also has 6.8 RPG. Durant has only scored over his average once in his last 5 games.
- Thunder PF Serge Ibaka is 5th with 9.6 PPG and leads the team with 7.6 RPG.
The Warriors and Thunder were very similar teams before the Thunder went out and got Kendrick Perkins. Kendrick Perkins will have a huge impact on this basketball pick because the one thing the Warriors are very poor at is rebounding. They average 2 rebounds less than the Thunder per game, and Warriors C Andris Biedrins will be out for the game tonight. Biedrins is not a scorer, but is the 2nd leading rebounder on the Warriors. David Lee has done well rebounding, but look for the Thunder to take advantage of the lack of size that the Warriors have.

Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Phoenix
- Phoenix has lost two out of the three matches against Sacramento this season. The Suns are 3-7 in their last ten games and they have lost their last two. The team is desperate of a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, they should be able to take it to Sacramento.
- The Suns had a disappointing loss against New Orleans before having the Mavericks come and defeat them in their home court. Nash is averaging 15.5 points and 11.4 assists per game for Phoenix this season.
Sacramento
- Sacramento has won their last three games against Milwaukee, Indiana and Philadelphia. They will look to defeat the Suns behind Marcus Thornton’s 22 points per game. Kings’ rookie, DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 14 points and 8.6 rebounds for the squad this season.
- The Kings have looked solid on offense lately and are 5-5 in their last ten games. The team is still allowing just over 104 points per game and they should have some trouble facing Pheonix’s offense.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Phoenix has their season on the line when heading into Sacramento, they are searching for wins and are working hard for them. Sacramento has a record of 9-27 in their home court. Phoenix should be able find flow on offense against the Kings’ defense.

Miami
- LeBron returns back again to Cleveland after coming off a great win over Houston. James scored 33 points and dished out seven assists in the win. Miami has been able to cream the Cavs in each of the four meetings, this will be their last stop at Cleveland.
- Miami has won their last five games coming into this one, they are 8-2 in their last ten games. Dwyane Wade is averaging 25.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game this season.
Cleveland
- Cleveland is coming off a 16-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks in their last game. The Cavs managed to grab a rare win last Friday, defeating Detroit by six points.
- Baron Davis notched 19 points and seven dimes, while coming off the bench in the team’s last game. The Cavs are 27th in scoring this season and will need role players such as Ramon Sessions and J.J. Hickson to cover this wide spread.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Miami should be looking to dominate the Cavaliers in this meeting. The Heat are surging, coming off impressive wins over Denver, San Antonio and the Lakers. It’s also great to see Chris Bosh find his groove within Miami’s offense; Cleveland will be in trouble unless they can make some stops.

Boston Celtics (51-21) vs. Indiana Pacers (32-42)
Monday, March 28th, 2011 7:00PM EST
Line: Boston -3
Free NBA Picks Analysis:
Boston
- The Celtics have won their last three meetings against Indiana this season. Boston had been able to close games against the Pacers with solid leads this season, they will look to close the series while playing away from home.
- Boston’s last game was a three-point win over Minnesota last night. The Celtics looked much more refreshed on offense immediately after tip-off, despite playing without their leading point guard Rajon Rondo. It’s still up in the air whether the all-star point guard will suit up for Boston’s game against Indiana.
Indiana
- Indiana has lost its last two games to some weak opponents in Sacramento and Detroit. Indiana is 5-5 in their last ten games heading into this one. Danny Granger leads the squad with his 20.6 points per game.
- The Pacers have the slightest hold on the eighth playoff spot in the east just by a game. They will look to push the ball harder on offense behind their scorer, Danny Granger and Roy Hibbert. The 7’2’’ Hibbert is averaging 12.5 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Pacers this year.
NBA Picks Game Forecast:
Boston appears to have found most of its flow on offense after recently losing a few games lately. Still, the Celtics barely got past Minnesota and are running into a frustrated, but hungry, Indiana team that’s doing anything to hold on to their playoff spot. The Celtics should take advantage of their role players, as the Pacers will be vulnerable when it comes to depth.

Line: Kentucky -1
Free College Basketball Picks Analysis:
Kentucky
- The Kentucky Wildcats shocked the nation behind Brandon Knight’s game-winning jumper in the final seconds against Ohio State on Friday night. The freshman only made three out of his ten shots in the game but managed to sink the most important bucket in the final seconds.
- The Wildcats will need their tall senior Josh Harrellson to do plenty of work around the glass against the Tar Heels. The senior had 17 points and 10 rebounds in his last game, Kentucky will ride behind their senior and their talented freshmen class.
North Carolina
- The Tar Heels looked nearly perfect when going up against Marquette in their last game. They’re primarily underdogs in this meeting because of Kentucky’s athletic advantage and UNC’s bad showing against Washington.
- The Tar Heels will need Tyler Zeller to put up another big game in the paint. The seven-foot junior had 27 points and 12 rebounds against Marquette. Kendall Marshall will also need to avoid turnovers while trying to find the reliable scoring of Harrison Barnes.
College Basketball Picks Game Forecast
Kentucky has been able to succeed behind their athleticism and speed on offense. The Wildcats will need Knight to continue his confident play, while expecting Terrence Jones, another freshman, to help them win this game. The Tar Heels could be in trouble early if they don’t establish some position down low.

- Kansas Junior F Marcus Morris leads the team with 17.1 PPG and is 2nd with 7.4 RPG. Marcus had 13 points and 7 rebounds vs Richmond.
This basketball pick is made tough by the best team in the tournament, Kansas. The Morris brothers only had 18 points and 13 rebounds in a 20 point blowout of Richmond in the last round. Kansas has been coasting all throughout the tourney, and may be tested in this one. VCU was out rebounded by Florida State 28-45 and was still able to win the game. Kansas is ranked inside the top 20 in every important category above. VCU will need to shutdown the offense of Kansas if they want to keep this roller coaster ride alive.

Butler
- Butler continues to shock nation this season, knocking off one team after another in their road to the NCAA final. They’re most recent win was a dominating one over Wisconsin. Matt Howard was most productive, putting up 20 points and grabbing 12 boards.
- Shelvin Mack had a rough shooting night, going 4-for-13 from the field. The Bulldogs will need their junior guard to be effective when taking on Florida’s dangerous back court.
Florida
- The Gators are one of the few predicted teams to make it this far in the tournament. Florida has been able to avoid upsets in the tournament this season behind their speedy guards and the scoring of Chandler Parsons.

Florida has the weapons to finally bring down the Butler Bulldogs and send them home. (5) Arizona Wildcats at (3) UConn Huskies
Saturday March 26, 2011 7:05 PM EST
Line: UConn -3
The West Region in this year’s NCAA tourney has been a wild one. It featured the defending champs, Duke, who got knocked out by the Wildcats 93-77. Arizona F Derrick Williams showed that he is going to be a great pro prospect with his 32 points and 13 rebounds. Duke came out and played outstanding early, but Williams was even more outstanding as he scored 25 of his 32 in the first half. While Arizona took out the 1 seeded Blue Devils, UConn pulled off the upset of 2 seeded San Diego State who were essentially playing a home game in Anaheim. UConn G Kemba Walker was huge with 36 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. The Huskies were able to score 74 points in a 74-67 win vs a very tough San Diego State defense.

This college basketball pick will determine who goes into the Final Four and wins the West Region. Both teams have overcome huge hurdles just to get to this point. Arizona won their first 2 NCAA tourney games by a combined 3 points, then beat Duke by 16 points which was the 2nd biggest loss of a #1 seed prior to the Elite 8 ever. UConn has won 9 straight, including winning the Big East tourney. They have won their 3 games by a combined total of 57 points, but only beat San Diego State by 7 points. This game will feature 2 of the best players in college basketball. UConn G Kemba Walker has been phenomenal scoring 30+ in his last 2 games. On the other hand, Arizona F Derrick Williams is making a big name for himself after a huge 32 point 13 rebound effort against the defending champs Duke. This basketball pick will be a very exciting one and might come down to rebounding as UConn averaged 5 rebounds more a game.

This college basketball pick will come down to the play of the Morris brothers of Kansas. These guys have been beasts all year and combined for 41 points and 24 rebounds against Illinois. Kansas did however only have one other player score in double figures that game, and that was G Tyshawn Taylor. No other Jayhawk had more than 3 rebounds in the game as well. Throughout the season, Kansas has out rebounded the Spiders by an average of 5 rebounds per game, but if the Spiders can keep the Morris brothers off the glass and away from the bucket they can pull off a major upset. Kansas is the only team seeded inside the top 10 left in the Southwest division of the NCAA tourney, so of the remaining #1 seed they have the easiest route to the Final Four.
