Free Pick Georgetown vs Syracuse: 3-11-10

March 11, 2010

Big East Brawl!  That’s right today we have an early winner for you in one of the biggest Big East matchups of the day.  Georgetown will take on Syracuse in a battle of two historically powerhouse programs.  The Orange come into the game well rested and as a 4.5 point underdog.  They are also fresh off of a loss to Louisville for the second time this season.  Even though they have had a fantastic season they will come out today a bit extra motivated to make up for their last loss.

Georgetown will be a bit sluggish in the second half and will not be able to keep pace with Syracuse and their volotile offensive attack.  Look for the Orange to win big today at the Garden.

Free Pick: Syracuse -4.5

Free Pick Rutgers vs Cincinnati 3-9-10

March 9, 2010

Tonight in the last game of the opening round of the Big East tournament Rutgers will battle Cincinnati.  Last night we opened up the week with a head of steam and we look to build off of our 2-0 performance.  Rutgers is awful and we don’t believe that even though this is the Big East tournament, that they will be ready to compete.

Cincinnati looks to make a legit run in the Big East tournament and should make easy prey of Rutgers tonight.

Free Pick:  Cincinnati -8

Free Pick St Mary’s vs Gonzaga: 3-8-10

March 8, 2010

Tonight in the West Coast Tournament championship from Las Vegas, St. Mary’s battles 18th ranked Gonzaga for the championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.  Gonzaga is ranked nationally and is already a lock for the big dance, St Mary’s however, would be able to breathe a sigh of relief in ensuring their ticket to March Madness with a win here tonight.

We like St Mary’s in this contest as the will be battling for a berth to the NCAA tournament.

Free Pick:  St. Marys

Free Pick Wisconsin vs Illinois 3-7-10

March 7, 2010

At 10-7 within the conference, Illinois is already guaranteed a fifth place finish, but is in need of a run to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive. Once a lock for the Big Dance, the Illini have fallen in four of their last five outings to put them on the so called bubble at 18-12. The team had an opportunity to help its chances of reaching the NCAA Tournament on Tuesday, but came up short in a 73-57 loss at nationally-ranked Ohio State.

The Badgers, meanwhile, can finish no worse than fourth in the conference and could even grab a third seed for the upcoming league tourney with a win today and a Michigan State loss to Michigan. Winners of three straight games, including a 67-40 trouncing of Iowa on Wednesday, Wisconsin has earned a first-round bye in the league postseason and is competing for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament.

As for the all-time series, Illinois owns a 108-74 advantage over Wisconsin and the Illini handed the Badgers their lone home loss of the season with a 63-56 decision back on February 9th.

Free Pick: Illinois +3.5

FREE PICK Cornell vs Brown 3-5-10

March 5, 2010

The Cornell Big Red will attempt to lock up an NCAA Tournament bid this weekend as they take on the Brown Bears in Ivy League action tonight.

Cornell clinched at least a share of the Ivy title last weekend, and a victory tonight over Brown or tomorrow over Yale would earn the Big Red their third straight “Big Dance” ticket. They are 25-4 overall, including 11-1 in Ivy action, and are one of just eight teams in league history to reach the 25-win plateau. The most recent outing against Penn last Saturday resulted in a 68-48 triumph.

As for Brown, it has played solid ball lately, winning three of the last four games. The surge has come far too late, however, as the Bears are still 11-18 overall and 5-7 in Ivy action. On Saturday, they were completely dominant in a 76-57 romp over Dartmouth on the road, and more of their victories have come on the road than at home, a rarity in college basketball.

Cornell beat Brown by a 74-60 final on February 6th and owns a 67-45 advantage in the all-time series between the teams.

Free Pick Cornell -14

Free Pick Providence vs Pittsburgh 3-4-10

March 4, 2010

Tonight there is a Big East Battle taking place in the Steel City.  The seventeenth ranked Pittsburgh Panthers play host to conference foe Providence.  The Friars are coming to town as a double digit  underdog as Pitt is laying eleven in this contest.

We think that the line is a bit high for the contest tonight so we are scratching our heads wondering why.  It makes us want to go with the hometown favorite in Pittsburgh tonight.

Free Pick: Pittsburgh -11

Free Pick Temple vs St. Louis: 3-3-10

March 3, 2010

Tonight the 20th ranked Temple Owls invade St Louis as a 3.5 point favorite.  We absolutely love Temple in the contest tonight as this is one of our biggest plays of the year.  As you know, we often like to play on home underdogs, but not tonight.

Temple is going to absolutely crush the line tonight and you need to make sure you are all over this game.

Free Pick:  Temple -3.5

Free Pick Georgetown vs West Virginia: 3-1-10

March 1, 2010

Top-25 foes come together in Morgantown tonight, as the West Virginia Mountaineers play host to the Georgetown Hoyas in a Big East Conference showdown.

The Mountaineers enter the contest on a winning note, as they captured a 74-68 decision over Cincinnati on Saturday. It was a nice bounce-back effort by WVU, which was upset by Connecticut (73-62) earlier in the week. Winners of three of their last four outings, the Mountaineers are 11-5 in the Big East and tied with Pittsburgh for third place.

The Hoyas meanwhile, have been a model of inconsistency down the stretch and they have gone from Big East title contenders to a middle-of-the-pack squad at 9-7. On Saturday, the team was handled at home by Notre Dame in a 78-64 decision, which was surprising considering the Fighting Irish were without their best player. Georgetown has now dropped three of its past four outings to fall to 19-8 overall.

Georgetown leads the head-to-head series with WVU, 26-21, but the Mountaineers took last season’s meeting by a 75-58 score.

Free Pick: West Virginia -6.5

Free Pick Louisville vs Connecticut 2-28-10

February 28, 2010

Today we come back strong after a pass yesterday to regroup.  Our Friday night specialist lost for the second straight week and we had to spend all day tracking him down to make sure he was OK.  We found him, and he is ready to go again for next Friday.   He still owns a 7-3 record on Friday Nights in the Ivy League, he is just not accustomed to losing two weeks in a row.

So, back to today’s action.  Louisville heads to UCONN to battle the Huskies in a Big East Brawl.  Connecticut enters the contest as a four point favorite and the public is all over the Huskies.  Surprisingly, so are we.  We like the revenge factor in this game and UCONN seems to have righted the ship somewhat.  Lay the points with the hometown Huskies and don’t ever look back.

Free Pick:  UCONN -4

Free Pick Yale vs Dartmouth: 2-26-10

February 26, 2010

The Friday Night Freak is back and I am looking to make ammends for last Fridays miscue.  Even with last week loss we stand at a strong 7-2 for the year within the Ivy League on Friday nights.  This is our night, we live for this.  This is our livelihood so pay attention and pay attention good.

tonight Yale enters this contest as a 3 point favorite on the road and the general betting public is all over Yale.  We love the home underdog in this game and we are guaranteeing it.

Go with Dartmouth and be confident.

Free Pick:  Dartmouth + 3
