Is It Possible to Find Affordable Manchester United Tickets?

September 20, 2009

The 2009/2010 Premier League season is about to get underway and the chase to find affordable Manchester United tickets has resumed. The departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez will not change the popularity of Man Utd which has won its third title in a row.

Joining the One United fan club offers the  best chance of finding reasonably prices Man Utd tickets. Becoming a member for the 2009/2010 season will cost between 30 and 36 GBP {Great Britain Pounds} for adults and 20 to 26 GBP for juniors. Memberships can be bought easily on the team’s website and every member is eligible to apply for tickets for all home matches of the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Curling Cup, and the Champions League. A random lottery drawing determines the success of an application.

Lottery entries for tickets usually need to be made 4-6 weeks before the game and the easiest way to learn about upcoming application deadlines is to subscribe to the One United email newsletter. Lottery winners are usually announced 2-3 weeks later, and once the winners pay for their tickets using a credit card, the tickets are shipped out to them. Monitoring the team’s ticket exchange gives those fans who were unlucky in the lottery another chance to secure affordable Man Utd tickets. The exchange allows One United members to buy tickets off season ticket holders who can’t attend some games. These Man Utd tickets are sold to the first person who wants to buy, so members should purchase them as soon as they become available.

Games that are held during the middle of the week such as some of the Premier League games and all of the Champions League games offer the best chances of securing tickets through the lottery. Another chance of getting tickets is to keep an eye on Man Utd prices at a reputable ticketing agency. Tickets are usually sold well above face value, but as the game approaches, it is occasionally possible to buy broker tickets at reasonable prices.

Can Manchester United Tickets Be Bought Online?

September 14, 2009

It is difficult to buy tickets online because they are one of the most popular football teams in the world.

The best way to buy Manchester United tickets on line is from the team itself. Application for tickets for every Premier League, FA Cup and Champions league game can be made through a lottery open to One United fan club members. Before buying tickets, check that Manchester United will ship tickets out to your country. Sometimes tickets might have to be picked up at the Old Trafford box office.

If you did not win tickets to a match through the fan club lottery, you could try using a ticket agency or broker. Many websites sell tickets to Premier League games, including Manchester United matches. A reputable broker will be able to get you tickets to any game, however the prices of these tickets will usually be much higher than their face value, but unfortunately there are quite a few agencies who do not deliver on their promise to deliver tickets.

Who are the brokers who can be trusted to deliver the Manchester United tickets you’ve paid for? Because reselling tickets involving British clubs is not legal in the United Kingdom, there are quite a few unreliable and dubious brokers. A referral from a friend who has had a good experience with a particular broker is the best way to find one. Another way to find a good broker is to check out recommendations on some football discussion boards and maybe also posting a new question asking about experience fans have had with a particular broker. Another suggestion is to Google a broker’s name together with the words ticket scam {e.g. “xyzbroker ticket scam”} to see if anyone has posted about a bad experience with that broker.

Ensure you know exactly when you will receive the tickets before buying Manchester United tickets on line. To safeguard against the tickets not being delivered as promised, use a credit card to pay rather than bank transfer, personal check or money order. An Ebay seller with good feedback can be a good source for tickets.

How Bad Are The Football Referees In The Premiership?

September 13, 2009

What do you think of the current standard of the football referees in the English Premiership? Do you think a system of video replays should be introduced to help these referees and to stop what are some important mistakes being made? These two questions are things which myself and my friends debate on a regular basis, especially after a few beers.

Do not get me wrong; I am fully aware that I have never been involved in professional football in any shape or form; I am actually involved in various projects to do with stuttering treatment, business cost reduction and about training for foster carers.

There was a match a number of seasons ago which sticks in my memory, a bad memory at that. It was a very important match between my favourite team Birmingham City and one of their local rivals Stoke City. It was an important match because Birmingham really needed to win the game as they were in danger of being relegated in that particular season. The three points for the win would certainly have helped them in their quest to survive.

With only around ten minutes of the match remaining Birmingham were leading a tense match by one goal to nil. At this stage one of the Stoke City footballers clattered into the B'ham City goalkeeper, who had the football firmly in his grasp, over. The ball slipped from his grasp and one of the other Stoke players kicked it into an unguarded net.

It was a mystery to many of the home supporters as to why the referee had not blown up for a free kick to Birmingham, I for one was fuming. I could not believe it and nor could any of the other Blues supporters, when the referee let the goal stand. I am normally quite a calm person but became so angry it was untrue. The next thing that happened was one of the Birmingham fans ran onto the pitch and fully punched this referee in the face. The players were taken off the pitch while order was restored.

I remember thinking at the time that this referee had deserved to be hit, but I later changed my mind, once I had had time to calm down. We are all capable of making a mistake of course.

I personally think that the overall standard of referees in the Premiership is very good and that we should start to get off these peoples back. I would however like each referee to be interviewed after each match in the same way as the football managers are. By doing this they could explain to the supporters why they made certain decisions during the match.

Soccer origins and History

September 11, 2009

Origins & History of Soccer

After the English set out to form a set of rules for the game of soccer, these were soon taken to the new World, where Americans learned to love this rising sport, right next to another game that grew strong roots in the US back then: baseball. Actually, the American Football Association is the second oldest sports league

More and more people were leaving their villages for the industry of towns. People were feeling pride and allegiances to their fast growing towns and soon people wanted to represent their own towns in competition with the other new fast growing towns around them. Soon games where-by you could only use your feet were being played in stadiums between the burgeoning settlements. At this stage in history there were no crossbars on the goals, only a piece of flimsy tape adjoining two poles. Other differences included, as you might suspect, no use of goalie gloves but also importantly no offside rule, the absence of such a ruling meaning strong attack bias with games frequently ending 10 a piece or greater.

Many more towns created their own football teams and by the beginning of the 20th century the structure of how football is contested today with leagues and cups were in place. Also around this time the game was beginning to be exported around the globe with teams beginning in countries like Germany and Italy around this time. International bouts were beginning, at this point England remaining supreme defeating the likes of the rest of the world on its own. With this international popularity it wasn’t long before the game was being contested on the world stage in the likes of the History of Soccer World Cup or European Championships.

With American football also on the rise, the organization adopted a new name to avoid any confusion and called itself the US Soccer Football Association for Soccer Coaching Tips and Soccer Drills for Kids. However, the US soccer history would soon witness a new change in its governing body’s name in 1974, when the USSFA dropped “Football” from its tag and instead adopted the title of United States Soccer Federation, which is still used today.

When Do Manchester United Tickets Become Available?

September 10, 2009

Manchester United tickets are some of the most prized football tickets for Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League matches.

One United fan club members have priority for home games because they can win tickets through a lottery system. Fans who enter the lottery must enter 4-6 weeks before game day and will receive their tickets in the mail (fans in some countries might have to pick up their tickets at the box office on game day). The application period for some games (e.g. Champions League matches), might be much closer to game day. For accurate information about upcoming games, the easiest way is to subscribe to the One United newsletter. Home game tickets are very rarely available to the general public, so becoming a member of One United and entering the lottery are your best bet to get tickets for a particular game.

Season ticket holders get priority for Manchester United away games. Manchester United usually gets an allocation of only several thousand tickets, and the demand for them is much higher than the number available so One United members and the general public typically don’t have an ability to buy these tickets. Tickets may be bought directly from the team hosting, but would disadvantage you by having to sit among the home team fans. Your chances of getting tickets are much greater when Manchester United plays at some of the less popular Premier League teams than for games at Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, or for the local derby at Manchester City. The Group Stage of the Champions League might offer your best chance to see Manchester United play an away game. Because ticket sales dates vary from team to team, in order to get correct information you’ll need to check on the respective team’s website.

Manchester United is one of the most popular teams playing today so getting tickets for most games will be a challenge. Even with the most careful planning possible, you might not be successful in obtaining tickets. If all other methods are unsuccessful, there are many brokers who sell Manchester United tickets, but usually at prices that are significantly higher than their face value.

Soccer Ball Size

August 26, 2009

The standard soccer ball size should be 27-28 inches in circumferences and 14-16 ounces in weight with a pressure of 8-12 psi. However, when referring to the soccer ball size, people usually think of one of the standard categories that are counted from 1 to 5. In the size 1 and 2 categories only practice and promotional balls are included, while from size 3 upwards, the soccer balls are designed according to group ages. On the average, the standard soccer ball size is 5. Any item below this range is used for smaller fields, in children’s gear or as novelty items. It may be helpful to know something about the soccer ball size when going shopping.

The smallest balls used in soccer are 3. They are especially designed for the group age under eight. Such balls weigh only 12 ounces and are not larger than 24 inches in diameter. Slightly bigger, soccer ball size 4 has 13 ounces in weight and 26 inches in circumference. This size targets group age from 8 to 12. As for the standard size, exceptions do exist, particularly in the case of indoor soccer leagues that due to the field specificity need to make gear adjustments. Moreover, depending on the league, requirements vary as well.

The soccer ball size peculiarities are written in the official laws of the game and competent international associations approve them. All the manufacturers have to stick to the regulations, although some companies prefer manufacturing only the soccer ball size 5 which is also the official one. Rigorous testing and  approvals are necessary for the items used in the official matches as they are selected after careful examination and profile analysis only. The approval logo will be afterwards imprinted on the balls. The average soccer ball needs to be a little familiar with the ball sizes in order to make a smart purchase.

If you shop in a regular sports store, it should not be so difficult to determine which soccer ball size suits your purposes. You may not know the soccer ball size when you order such an item online. If you don’t have them in front of you, understanding the inch or metric specifications could be difficult for the untrained eye. Therefore, knowing the specifics of every soccer ball size and category to which it belongs will be of great help. Last but not least, the gear requirements vary depending on the league and such specificity ought to be considered. Better learn which is the soccer ball size you need and then get it.

Soccer Ball Pattern

August 26, 2009

Most teams have a soccer ball pattern that any real fan will spot within a glimpse of an eye. However, if you have no soccer experience it is almost impossible to identify similarities in game actions and the way the players try to score, move, dribble or pass the balls. According to experts the soccer ball pattern is the result of very good analytical thinking and quality training. When a player masters the technique and uses personal all the knowledge he/she has on the field, the benefits extend to the entire team. Moreover, the soccer ball pattern cannot be performed by one individual alone, since it depends on the unity in the soccer formation.

The cooperation between the team members is developed during trainings, and the coach is the one to teach the soccer ball pattern so that the players have a good performs for the assigned individual position on the field. The real mastery of the soccer ball pattern comes in time and involves a constant evolution. Thus, competing teams often study the opponents’ strategies to understand where the strength or the weakness comes from, where the attack is at its highest or where it lacks in intensity. The entire team has a contribution to the making of the soccer ball pattern since it is not the merit of one individual alone.

Amateurish players face difficulties in developing a real soccer ball pattern, but for hobby playing it is not even important to have great skills. Most of the time players stick to a certain way of moving on the field and only very often really manage to change the quality of their game. This can sometimes be a problem for the success on the field, but since we are not talking about professional achievements, things are definitely not very pressing. Therefore, the soccer ball pattern doesn’t make an objective in itself when playing for sheer personal pleasure.

All in all, the soccer ball pattern develops only by team playing particularly in championships and professional leagues. Although not easy to identify and characterize by an untrained eye, it is the feature that distinguishes every team. Any coach will do his/her best to make all the players contribute to the creation of a good soccer ball pattern that can win goals or points and bring the success of the team. Yet, if the pattern is to blame for the lack of success attributed to various matches, it will most often be replaced or changed.

Soccer Ball History

August 26, 2009

Soccer is maybe the most popular sport in the world. The history of soccer goes along, evidently, with the soccer ball history. When referring to the soccer ball history there are several periods to distinguish. Thus there are the early ball history, the balls in the 1800s, balls in the 1900s, and the modern times.

Early soccer ball history starts before the birth of Christ. Kicking a round object for fun was surely a pastime to many cultures. South American Indians were among the first to use a form of elastic ball that pre-dated the use of rubber, discovered a thousand years later. The early soccer balls consisted of different items from animal and human skulls to cow or pig bladders and stitched up cloth. The Chinese used to play a game that involved dribbling a ball through gaps in a net spread between two poles, and this happened as early as 255BC. Ancient Greeks and Romans also had a game which involved kicking and carrying a ball, whereas in certain ancient Egyptian rites are said to have had similarities with soccer.

Pre-medieval and medieval stories and legends that can be qualified as part of the soccer ball history, also mention the use of animal bladders or skulls to play games similar to modern soccer. An instance of the use of an animal bladder ball is presented in the legend about the ‘game’ between two villages. An entire village ran and kicked a ball with the purpose of getting it into the other village’s square. The other villagers will make similar attempts. Inflated animal bladders seem to dominate this part of the soccer ball history. Once inflated they would try to keep the ‘ball’ in the air by by means of both feet and hands. In time people improvements to the shape and strength of the ball were brought by covering it with leather.

The soccer ball history of the 1800s bears the influence of the introduction of vulcanized rubber, Charles Goodyear’s invention. In 1855 the same Charles Goodyear designed and then built the first vulcanized rubber soccer balls. In 1862 H.J. Lindon developed one of the first inflatable bladders for soccer balls. Although he is the father of the rugby ball too, he did not patent the idea at the time because of the preference for the round ball. By the 1900s the soccer ball history had entered on a different path, bringing these entertainment objects a lot closer to what they are today.
