College Football Pick Air Force at UNLV 11-18-10

November 16, 2010

Air Force Falcons at UNLV Rebels

Thursday November 18, 2010 10:00 PM EST

Line: Air Force -19.5

Air Force has won 2 straight games, but has failed to win a road game by more than 21 points. As a matter of fact, they are 2-3 on the road this season. UNLV snapped a 5 game losing streak last weekend. They are a much different team at home, and the late start should only help the Rebels.

Stats to consider:

Air Force Falcons:

  • Air Force is 7-4 with a 4-3 MWC record.
  • They are 2-3 on the road.
  • Points against per game: 22.5 (44th)
  • Points for per game: 32 (33rd)
  • Passing yards a game: 120.3 (117th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 315.6 (2nd)

UNLV Rebels:

  • UNLV is 2-8 on the season with a 2-4 MWC record.
  • The Rebels are 2-3 at home.
  • Points against per game: 37.4 (112th)
  • Points for per game: 18.4 (107th)
  • Passing yards a game: 162.8 (103rd)
  • Rushing yards a game: 107.1 (106th)

What to watch for:

  • The Falcons rushing game is lead by Junior RB Asher Clark with 919 yards and 5 TDs. Just last week he ran for 95 yards and 2 TDs. 2nd on the team in rushing is Junior QB Tim Jefferson who has 705 yards on the ground with 12 TDs. Jefferson has thrown for 1,231 yards 9 TDs and 6 Ints.
  • UNLV Freshman RB Tim Cornett leads the Rebels offense. Last week Cornett ran for 70 yards with 3 TDs and another thru the air.
  • Rebels Senior QB Omar Clayton has 1,245 yards 9 TDs and 5 Ints this season.

Sports picks often involve mismatched teams. While Air Force is the better team, I can’t see this UNLV team coming up with a bad home finisher. They played very well last week in getting their second victory of the year. I think Air Force will find a way with their running game to win the game, but I can’t see UNV getting rolled in their last home game of the season.
