#18 Arkansas Razorbacks at #19 South Carolina Gamecocks

Saturday November 6, 2010 7:00 PM EST

Line: South Carolina -4

Arkansas brings in a 2 game winning streak into this huge SEC matchup. This is only their third road game, so this will be a huge road test again for them as they went on the road 3 weeks ago and lost to Auburn. South Carolina also has a 2 game winning streak. The Gamecocks two loses this year have come on the road.

Stats to consider:

Arkansas Razorbacks:

  • The Razorbacks are 6-2 with a 3-2 SEC record.
  • They are 1-1 on the road this season.
  • Points against per game: 22.3 (46th)
  • Points for per game: 35 (20th)
  • Passing yards a game: 360.3 (2nd)
  • Rushing yards a game: 27.1 (92nd)

South Carolina Gamecocks:

  • The Gamecocks are 6-2 with a4-2 SEC record.
  • They are 5-0 at home with a win over the then ranked #1 Alabama Crimson Tide.
  • Points against per game: 19.5 (24th)
  • Points for per game: 30.6 (45th)
  • Passing yards a game: 256 (35th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 151.9 (62nd)

What to watch for:

  • Arkansas Junior QB Ryan Mallet has 2,449 yards with 18 TDs and 7 Ints this season. Just last week Mallet was 27-44 for 409 yards and 3 TDs. That should mean good things for the Razorbacks as he only had 392 yards 2 TDs and an Int the previous 2 weeks.
  • Gamecocks Junior QB Stephen Garcia has 1,904 yards 13 TDs and 7 Ints on the season. He has been helped out by Sophomore WR Alshon Jeffrey who has 935 yards and 7 TDs. Jeffery did suffer a “little” knee sprain last week, but should be good to go.
  • The Gamecocks have gotten a great season from Freshman RB Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore has 722 yards and 11 TDs. He also has caught 14 passes for 240 yards and another 2 TDs. Just last week he ran for 184 yards and a TD on 29 carries.

The Gamecocks are extremely athletic making this a tough football pick. They have been surprising on offense with a Freshman leading them in rushing and a Sophomore leading them in receiving. Don’t count out Ryan Mallet as he is a competitor and will be looking to upset the Gamecocks coming off his best game of the season.
