#2 Auburn Tigers at #11 Alabama Crimson Tide

Friday November 26, 2010 2:30 PM EST

Line: Alabama -4.5

There is no doubt that this is the biggest game of the weekend. Auburn brings in their flawless record looking to add another big win to their record. They are 3-0 vs ranked opponents but have yet to play a ranked opponent on the road. This is the final home game for Alabama this season. This is their national championship game. They are 4-2 vs ranked opponents, 3-0 at home.

Stats to consider:

Auburn Tigers:

  • Auburn is 11-0 with a 7-0 SEC record.
  • They are 3-0 on the road.
  • Points against per game: 24.9 (60th)
  • Points for per game: 42.8 (5th)
  • Passing yards a game: 197.3 (77th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 307.9 (3rd)

Alabama Crimson Tide:

  • The Tide are 9-2 with a 5-2 SEC record.
  • They are 6-0 at home.
  • Points against per game: 12.8 (3rd)
  • Points for per game: 35.3 (20th)
  • Passing yards a game: 249.7 (36th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 184.9 (32nd)

What to watch for:

  • Auburn Junior QB Cam Newton could easily create some space in the Heisman running with a good game plus a win this week. He has thrown for 2,038 yards 21 TDs and 6 Ints. He has rushed for 1,297 yards and 17 TDs.
  • Tigers Freshman RB Michael Dyer has rushed for 859 yards and 5 TDs.
  • Bama Senior QB Greg McElroy has thrown for 2,390 yards 17 TDs and 5 Ints. His main target has been Junior WR Julio Jones who has 885 yards and 6 TDs.
  • Bama Junior RB Mark Ingram won’t win the Heisman this year, but could stop Newton from doing so. Ingram has 780 yards and 10 TDs on the ground. In both Alabama loses, Ingram had 0 TDs. Expect Sophomore RB Trent Richardson to return this week, only to spell Ingram when he needs some air.

This is the biggest sports pick of the weekend. This game has big time implications on the college football season. Auburn QB Cam Newton has been lights out this season. I would not be shocked to see him have a great game and carry his team to a victory. I don’t think that is going to happen though. I like this Alabama team, they are undefeated at home this season with a chance to stop Auburn from going to the national championship game. They will be at their best and should get the victory in this one.
