College Football Pick Baylor at Oklahoma State 11-6-10

November 2, 2010

#21 Baylor Bears at #17 Oklahoma State Cowboys

Saturday November 6, 2010 12:30 PM EST

Line: Oklahoma State -7

Baylor comes into this Big-12 game knowing that this could be their year. They have won 3 straight games and are coming off a big 30-22 win at Texas. This road test will be a bit tougher as the Cowboys are playing very well. The Cowboys bounced back from a 51-41 loss vs Nebraska two weeks ago with a win at Kansas State 24-14.

Stats to consider:

Baylor Bears:

  • Baylor is 7-2 this season with a 4-1 Big 12 record.
  • They are 3-1 on the road with that one loss being at TCU 45-10.
  • Points against per game: 23.1 (52nd)
  • Points for per game: 34.3 (23rd)
  • Passing yards a game: 303.7 (10th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 186.8 (31st)

Oklahoma State Cowboys:

  • The Cowboys are 7-1 with a 3-1 Big 12 record.
  • They are 4-1 at home with the one loss vs Nebraska two weeks ago.
  • Points against per game: 28.5 (82nd)
  • Points for per game: 45.3 (3rd)
  • Passing yards a game: 343.4 (3rd)
  • Rushing yards a game: 183.9 (32nd)

What to watch for:

  • Bears Sophomore QB Robert Griffin III has 2, 592 yards 20 TDs and 5 Ints. Griffin has also ran for 401 yards with 7 TDs. His favorite target this season has been Junior WR Kendall Wright who has 702 yards and 6 TDs. Last week Wright caught six passes for 113 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Baylor Senior RB Jay Finley has 813 yards and 6 TDs. Just last week he rushed for 116 yards and a TD on only 15 carries.
  • Cowboy’s Sophomore WR Justin Blackmon has been huge this year with 1,112 yards and 14 TDs. Blackmon was suspended for last weeks game and it will be interesting to see as to how the Cowboys will bring him back. Junior QB Brandon Weeden has benefited from Blackmon’s success as he has thrown for 2,547 yards with 23 TDs and 9 Ints.
  • Cowboy’s Senior RB Kendall Hunter has been huge this year with 1,174 yards and 12 TDs. Hunter has rushed for over 100 yards in the last 5 games and has only been held under the 100 yard mark once this season.

This is a tough sports pick for sure. Baylor has been playing some great football as of late, while Oklahoma State has played well all year long. The Cowboys have two wins by 4 points or less at home this year. The other two home victories were vs very poor teams, so there is some worry for the Cowboys. The Bears have played some good teams on the road, but the one ranked team they played on the road was TCU and they got smoked 45-10.
