Florida International Golden Panthers at North Texas Mean Green

Line: Florida International -5.5

Florida International comes into this Sun Belt matchup with a 1-4 record while having a 1-0 Sun Belt matchup. They got their last win of the season last week at home vs Western Kentucky. The Panthers are 0-3 on the road. North Texas is 1-5 on the season with a 1-2 record in the Sun Belt. They have a two game losing streak, both losses coming at home. They are 0-3 at home.

Florida International has struggled scoring points and holding opponents this year. They have allowed 30.6 points a game, 92nd in the nation. Their offense is only averaging 21.4 points a game, 90th overall. The Panthers are averaging 145.4 yards a game on the ground which is 70th in the nation. Their passing game hasn’t been much better averaging 201.4 yards a game, 76th overall. The player to watch for the Panthers is Junior QB Wesley Carroll. Carroll has 969 yards with 4 TDs and 6 Ints.

The Mean Green have been a bit better allowing 26.7 points a game, 73rd overall. They haven’t scored much averaging 18 points game which is 108th worst. They have been very effective on the ground averaging 178.5 yards a game, 40th best. They are lead by Junior RB Lance Dunbar. Dunbar has 582 yards with 3 TDs. Dunbar also catches the ball well and has 148 yards and another TD thru the air. Their passing game will need to step it up as they rank 89th with 180.8 yards a game.

North Texas has lost their last two home games by 1 and 5 points. I can’t see Florida International running away with this game. Both teams are not very good, but with some football picks you have to go with the best player on the field. I really think Lance Dunbar is a special talent. I think Dunbar has a big game vs this porous Panther defense.
