Fresno State Bulldogs at San Jose State Spartans

Saturday October 23, 2010 8:00 PM EST

Line: Fresno State -19

Fresno State is 4-2 coming into this WAC matchup with a 2-1 WAC record. They beat up a very poor New Mexico State team last week 33-10. They are 1-1 on the road this season. San Jose State is 1-6 on the season with an 0-2 WAC record. They finally get to face an easier opponent after facing 5 ranked opponents in the first 7 weeks. They are 1-2 at home this season.

Fresno State has struggled on defense allowing 28.2 points a game. Their offense has excelled with 34.2 points a game, 27th overall. Their rushing attack has averaged 148 yards a game, 67th overall. The Bulldogs passing game is 55th overall with 230.3 yards a game. Senior QB Ryan Colburn leads this passing attack with 1,382 yards and 13 TDs and 6 Ints.

San Jose State has a bad record, and their stats reflect that. They have allowed 34.1 points a game, 105th worst. Their offense is the worst in the nation in scoring with 8.9 points a game. Their passing game has been very poor with 106 yards a game, 103rd worst. Their rushing game has been even more terrible with 82.1 yards a game, 115th worst. Their starting QB Jordan La Secla has 954 yards 2 TDs and 6 Ints.

A sports pick often rides on the shoulders of the starting QB. Jordan La Secla simply is not getting it done for the Spartans. The Spartans have struggled mightily this season, and part of that could be the fact that they have played 5 teams that are in the top 25 in the nation. I still don’t see much out of the Spartans and I took them last week getting 40 points vs Boise State. Look for Fresno State to move the ball up and down the football field and be able to shut down the Spartans offense.
