Iowa Hawkeyes (7-2) vs. Northwestern Wildcats (6-3)

Saturday, November 13th, 2010 12:00PM EST

Line: Iowa -10

Northwestern was looking to become one of the contenders in their Big Ten division this season, losing only two games before taking their third to Penn State last weekend. They will now try and bounce back against Iowa’s 6th-ranked defense. The Hawkeyes have won their last two games and will be looking to get their eighth win of the season while playing away.

Keys to the Game:

–          Iowa’s offense has been much better this season. The team is ranked 36th in the nation in passing, averaging 250.8 passing yards. They can also run the ball fairly well, averaging 159 rushing yards a game this season.

–          Northwestern’s quarterback, Dan Persa threw for 201 yards and a touchdown, while also being able to run in two more touchdowns on the ground in the team’s last game. He will need help from the team’s 41st-ranked defense for the Wildcats to have a chance.

–          Iowa’s Marcus Coker got most of the carries last week for the Hawkeyes. The freshman had 129 yards on the ground off 22 carries against Indiana. The team’s receiver, Marvin McNutt has also looked great for the team as of late, catching six balls for 126 yards and a touchdown last week.

Iowa should be able to frustrate Persa and Northwestern’s offense in this game. Northwestern will hope to continue getting the ball to their leading receiver, Jeremy Ebert, who’s caught 48 balls this season for the team. Iowa’s defense will give them the victory but it will be a slim one.

Free Pick: Northwestern +10
