Kent State Golden Flashes (2-4) vs. Bowling Green Falcons (1-6)

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 3:30PM ET

Line: Kent State -2.5

Kent State are small favorites in this meeting because of their more stable defensive unit. Bowling Green has a passing game that’s ranked 36th in the nation, averaging 251 yards per game this season. They’re coming off a one-point loss to Temple last weekend, the team had two turnovers and were 1 for 9 on third down conversions in the loss.

Keys to the Game:

–          Bowling Green’s Matt Schilz was 30/51 in passing, throwing for 287 yards and a touchdown. The team’s running backs Geter and Hopgood both punched in their own respective touchdowns in the loss, but that wasn’t enough as the team also had nine penalties totaling for 80 yards.

–          Kamar Jorden continues to become the source of Bowling Green’s passing game. The junior receiver caught 12 balls for 143 yards last week. This season he has 62 receptions for 697 yards and three touchdowns.

–          Kent State struggled to come close last weekend, losing 21-34 to Toledo. The team had three turnovers and Spencer Keith wasn’t able to throw for a single touchdown throughout the game. Instead the team rallied behind their running back, Jacquise Terry. Terry had 92 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.

Bowling Green’s offense has been averaging 27.1 points per game this season, they should be able to get some of the scoring done behind Schilz and Jorden at home this weekend. Kent State’s defense hasn’t been anywhere near solid this season, expect Bowling Green to take this one over.
