Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (1-2) vs. Auburn Tigers (4-0)

Saturday, October 2nd, 12:00 PM EST
Line: Auburn Tigers -35

The Auburn Tigers look to go 5-0 this week when facing an easier matchup against the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. Louisiana-Monroe has lost to Auburn in all seven of their meetings. This season Auburn has been averaging 32.8 points against their opponents, led by their quarterback Cameron Newton. The dangerous quarterback has thrown nine touchdowns this season, while also using his scrambling ability to rush in five more touchdowns. Louisiana-Monroe is 87th in the league when it comes to points allowed, with opponents averaging 28.3 points against their defense. They’re coming off a 21-20 win against Southeastern Louisiana.

Keys to the Games

* Auburn will look to employ their unstoppable running game, led by Newton and freshmen running back, Michael Dyer. So far Dyer has had 62 touches for 312 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Newton remains as the team’s leading rusher, with 75 touches for 485 yards and five touchdowns.

* Louisiana-Monroe will have their issues in moving the football down the field, they are ranked 95th in the NCAA, averaging only 314 yards a game. Quarterback Kolton Browning has thrown for 590 yards, with four picks and four touchdowns this season. He’s also the team’s leading rusher with 183 yards on the ground. He remains as the prime source of the team’s success; Browning threw for 249 yards and ran for another 75 in their last game. Auburn’s defense has allowed opponents to score 22.8 points so far this season.

* Auburn remains 3-0 at home and will most likely continue undefeated after LA-Monroe visits on Saturday. They are headless in their leadership and will have a hard time finding a groove when playing at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn fans are one of the loudest and it’ll take one or two mistakes from Kolton Browning before Auburn sails away with the momentum.

The Auburn Tigers will have a load of options to rely on when facing this Louisiana-Monroe team. This game will give a chance for the team’s defense to redeem themselves after nearly giving up games to both Clemson and South Carolina. They will surely pound the ball on the ground, as they are ranked 7th in the NCAA, averaging 278 rushing yards in each game. They will surely score the ball several times against LA-Monroe, but will most likely look to their running game to close this one out quietly.
