Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders

Saturday October 23, 2010 4:30 PM EST

Line: Middle Tennessee -12.5

These two Sun Belt teams are looking to show that they are going to be factors in their conference. The Warhawks come in at 3-3 with a 2-1 Sun Belt record. They are coming off a big road victory at Western Kentucky 35-30. They are 1-2 on the road this season. The Blue Raiders are 2-4 on the season with a 1-1 Sun Belt record. They bring into this game a two game losing streak where they were outscored 84-27. Middle Tennessee is 1-2 at home.

The Warhawks have not been very impressive on either sides of the football. They rank 92nd on defense allowing 30.7 points a game. Their offense has not been better averaging 17.7 points a game, 110th worst. They need to get their rushing game going as they rank 105th with 100.3 yards a game. They have passed the ball well averaging 227.8, 56th overall. The key for the Warhawks will be the performance of Freshman QB Kolton Browing who has 1,284 yards with 7 TDs and 5 Ints.

The Blue Raiders have been a bit better on both sides of the football. They are allowing 29.8 points a game, 88th overall. Their offense has been decent posting 25.2 points a game, 75th overall. Their passing game is ranked 63rd with 213.3 yards a game. The Blue Raiders have ran the ball well averaging 159 yards a game. Senior RB Phillip Tanner leads the squad with 380 yards and 5 TDs.

These two teams are fairly well matched. Football picks are made tough by Freshman QBs. Kolton Browing has looked good for the Warhawks and he will need to continue to look good in order for the Warhawks to get the victory. Based on how both teams have been playing the last two weeks, I like the Warhawks. They have a two game winning streak compared to the Blue Raiders two game losing streak.
