Line: Nebraska -6

Nebraska comes into this Big 12 battle after a tough loss at home vs Texas 20-13. They are 5-1 with a 1-1 Big 12 record. They are 2-0 on the road this year. Oklahoma State comes into this game after a big road victory at Texas Tech 34-17. They are returning home after a perfect 2-0 road trip with a 6-0 record and a 2-0 Big 12 record. They are a flawless 4-0 at home.

So many people hopped on the Nebraska bandwagon before last week, including me. This team has looked good for the most of the season, but it’s time for me to jump off this bandwagon before things get ugly. Their defense has been solid ranking 9th overall allowing 14 points a game. Their offense has been great posting 36.8 points a game, 14th best. Their passing game is a major reason why this team could have problems going further into the season. They are 111th overall with 143.5 yards a game. Their rushing game has been the reason for their success as they are 4th best with 302.2 yards a game. Freshman QB Taylor Martinez leads the team with 758 yards and 12 TDs. Texas showed last week the formula to beat this Cornhusker team. This is the first ranked opponent for Nebraska.

This will be the first real test for this Oklahoma State team. They also are yet to play a ranked opponent until now. Their defense has been flawed allowing 27.2 points a game, 73rd overall. Their offense has been 2nd best in the nation scoring 49.5 points a game. Their rushing game is 41st in the nation with 174.3 yards a game, 41st overall. Their passing game has lead the way with 361 yards a game, 3rd best. Junior QB Brandon Weeden has 1,966 yards with 19 TDs and 8 Ints. His favorite target has been WR Justin Blackmon who has 955 yards with 12 TDs. Senior RB Kendall Hunter is no slouch on the ground with 830 yards and 10 TDs.

Oklahoma State is too strong of a football team, they will not lose this game. The fact they are at home makes this one of the easier football picks. I think Texas showed last week that the way to best Nebraska is to stack the box and force Freshman QB Taylor Martinez to throw the football. If Oklahoma State gets out to an early lead, they could run away with it.
