Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0) vs. Illinois Fighting Illini (2-1)

Saturday, October 2nd, 12:00 PM EST

Line: Ohio State -17 1/2

For their Big 10 opener, the second ranked Ohio State (OSU) travel to Memorial Stadium to face off against a solid Illinois team. The Buckeyes are coming off a freakish 73-20 win against Eastern Michigan last weekend. OSU’s Terrelle Pryor had an outstanding game, with a polished statline: 20/26, 224 yards, 4 TD, 104 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. The Fighting Illini have had a solid campaign this season, despite their loss in their season opener. Illinios’ running game is ranked 18th in the nation, averaging 229 yards a game.

Keys to the Games

* The Buckeyes will need to stop Illinois’ one-two punch of Nathan Scheelhaase and Mikel Leshoure. The duo loves to run the ball, with a combined 295 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their last game. The team’s star running back, Mikel Leshoure, leads the team with 398 rushing yards and three touchdowns this season.

* Ohio State is ranked 3rd in the nation, averaging 49.3 points per game. Terrelle Pryor has been untouchable in the team’s first four games. He’s completed 66 percent of his passes for 939 yards and ten touchdowns, while also rushing for 269 yards and three touchdowns. He’s also recently having an easy time finding his receiver Dane Sanzenbacher, who’s caught 20 passes for 316 yards and five touchdowns so far this season.

* While the Buckeyes have one of the top offenses in the league, their defense should also be shown some light. Opponents have only been able to average 14.5 against Ohio State’s defensive unit. They forced four interceptions out of ‘Canes quarterback stud, Jacory Harris.

The Fighting Illini will try and keep the ball on the ground against Ohio State’s penetrating defense. But Ohio State is easily one of the top three hottest teams in the league and have nearly been able to score on will. They are a really complete team, behind their stable defense, strong offensive weapons and Heisman hopeful, Terrelle Pryor.
