#8 Oklahoma Sooners at Texas A&M Aggies

Saturday November 6, 2010 7:00 PM EST

Line: Oklahoma -3

This line really shocked me at first glance. Oklahoma is 1-1 on the road and only won by 2 points in their only road victory. Texas A&M has not beaten a ranked opponent thus far this season.

Stats to consider:

Oklahoma Sooners:

  • The Sooners are 7-1 with a 3-1 Big 12 record.
  • They are 1-1 on the road.
  • Points against per game: 20 (29th)
  • Points for per game: 35.8 (17th)
  • Passing yards a game: 326.1 (5th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 147.3 (70th)

Texas A&M Aggies:

  • The Aggies are 5-3 with a 2-2 Big 12 record.
  • They are 4-2 at home, with both loses coming at the hands of ranked opponents.
  • Points against per game: 21.5 (44th)
  • Points for per game: 34.3 (24th)
  • Passing yards a game: 322 (6th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 163.8 (46th)

What to watch for:

  • Sooner Senior QB Landry Jones has 2,547 yards 21 TDs and only 5 Ints. His favorite target has been Junior WR Ryan Broyles who has 1,018 yards and 8 TDs.
  • The X-factor in the game is Senior RB DeMarco Murray who has 752 yards and 12 TDs. Murray has failed to rush for over 50 yards the last two weeks but has had over 97 total yards for the last four weeks.
  • Aggie Senior QB Jerrod Johnson has 1,947 yards 14 TDs and 9 Ints this season. Johnson didn’t play last week and was replaced by Junior QB Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill threw for a school record 449 yards and added on 4 TDs while only throwing 1 Int. Junior WR Jeff Fuller has benefitted from the solid QB play as he has 858 yards and 11 TDs.

Most sports picks are tough this week. I would consider this one of the easier picks of the week. Oklahoma has a very good offense and a good defense to go with it. Look for this game to be a shootout, with the Aggies doing all they can to upset the Sooners.
