#22 Oklahoma State Cowboys at Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns

Friday October 8, 2010 9:00 PM EST

Line: Oklahoma State -24

Oklahoma State comes into their first road game with an undefeated record. They also are coming off their closest game of the season, a 38-35 win over Texas A&M. The Ragin’ Cajuns bring in a 2-2 record with an 0-1 record vs ranked opponents. They played Georgia week 1 on the road and lost 55-7. 4 score lines are always the toughest to cover so the Cowboys will have their work cut out for them.

The Cowboys have been a scoring machine so far this year. Their lowest point total was last week which they scored 38 points. They have averaged 52.3 points per game this year which is 2nd best in the nation. Their defense has been less than spectacular giving up 29.5 points a game which ranks 91st in the nation. Leading this high powered offense for Oklahoma State is their passing game. They have averaged 364.8 yards a game which is 3rd in the nation. Their running game has also been a huge complement averaging 170 yards a game that ranks 51st. Leading the passing attack is Junior QB Brandon Weeden. Weeden has 1,259 yards with 13 TDs and 4 Ints. His favorite receiver thus far is Sophomore Justin Blackmon who has 558 yards and 9 TDs. Leading the running game is Senior RB Kendall Hunter. Hunter has 574 yards and 8 TDs.

The bad news for the Cajuns is that their weakness has been their defense. Their defense has allowed an average of 35 points a game which is 108th in the nation. They have not been able to stop anyone and have only put up 20 points a game on offense which is 94th in the nation. The Cajuns will be behind in this game and will need their passing game to continue to lead this offense. They have averaged 213 yards a game throwing the ball while only 101.3 yards a game rushing the ball. Junior QB Chris Masson has 721 yards 5 TDs and only 1 Int. Their leading rusher is Junior RB Kevis Streeter with 153 yards and a TD. The bad news is that Streeter might miss this game due to a leg injury suffered last week.

This game could be horrible for Louisiana-Lafayette. The Cajuns will more than likely be without their starting RB and their defense can’t stop anyone. With football picks, defenses are a focal point. In this instance, the great offense of the Cowboys going up against the horrid defense of the Cajuns makes this an easy pick. The Cowboys will win this game. The only question remaining is how much will they win by? Georgia beat this Cajun team 55-7 to open the season, and Georgia isn’t even that great of a team this year. Oklahoma State has it going offensively and will have a field day. Don’t be surprised to see the Cowboys go for over 500 yards of total offense or even more.
