Purdue Boilermakers (4-3) vs. Illinois Fighting Illini (4-3)

Saturday, October 30th, 2010 12:00PM EST

Line: Illinois -17.5

The Boilermakers looked to be riding a respectable campaign this season until they were manhandled 49-0 by Ohio State last weekend. Purdue was held to 30 total rushing yards all night, they also committed three turnovers and were 3-14 on third down conversions. The Fighting Illini are coming off a great defensive win over Indiana, winning 13-43.

Keys to the Game:

–          Illinois forced five turnovers against Indiana last week, the Illini defense is ranked 15th in the nation, allowing only 17.7 points per game this season. They will need to put the clamps down when Purdue brings their 33rd ranked running game that’s averaging 177.7 rushing yards per game this season.

–          Purdue’s Rob Henry looked terrible last week when going up against the Buckeyes. The freshman quarterback threw for 58 yards and an interception. After running in three touchdowns the week before, he was held to 26 rushing yards last weekend.

–          Illini’s Mikel Leshoure has continued his solid running season, last weekend the junior ran for 77 yards and a touchdown off 16 carries. Leshoure has run for a total of 757 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Rob Henry’s rattled outing against Ohio State last week puts wonder how the freshman will respond when heading to Illinois this weekend. Both teams carry the same record but Illinois’ defense will overpower the Boilermakers.
