The Mountaineers are coming off a win over South Florida last Thursday, the team forced three turnovers out of their opponents. Quarterback, Geno Smith picked up the load, passing for 219 yards and two touchdowns. While, their running backs, Ryan Clarke and Noel Devine failed to provide a steady running game. Syracuse is coming off a tough 45-14 loss to Pittsburgh last weekend, the team were riding a three-game winning streak before the loss.

Keys to the Game:

–          Syracuse was 4 for 13 on third-down conversions and had four turnovers in their loss to Pitt last week. The team’s leading playmaker, Delone Carter was held to 38 yards rushing, while managing to score a touchdown. The team’s quarterback, Ryan Nassib looked out of his game, as he threw two interceptions.

–          West Virginia is 3rd in the league when it comes to points allowed. The defense has only allowed opponents to average 12.3 points against them this season. The team has done a solid job keeping teams from successfully scoring on them this year. Their only loss was to LSU, a close 20-14 final.

–          So far, the Mountaineers quarterback, Geno Smith has passed for 1,358 yards, 14 touchdowns and two touchdowns. His receivers have done a good job helping him out this season too. Tavon Austin has 32 receptions for 413 yards and two touchdowns, while Jock Sanders has 36 catches for 317 yards and two touchdowns also.

It’s worth seeing whether Syracuse will get it together after their ugly showing last week. West Virginia has looked focused ever since their loss to LSU on September 25th. Look for them to crush the Orange with their home field advantage and surging back field.
