Texas Tech Red Raiders at #16 Oklahoma Sooners

Saturday November 13, 2010 3:30 PM EST

Line: Oklahoma -14.5

Texas Tech got a big win over Missouri last weekend 24-17. They have yet to beat a good opponent on the road and look like a very different team away from home. Oklahoma has lost 2 of their last 3 and now come home looking to bounce back where they are undefeated.

Stats to consider:

Texas Tech Red Raiders:

  • Tech is 5-4 with a 3-4 Big 12 record.
  • They are 2-2 on the road and this is their first road game vs a ranked opponent.
  • Points against per game: 30.9 (92nd)
  • Points for per game: 31 (42nd)
  • Passing yards a game: 313.4 (8th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 125.2 (92nd)

Oklahoma Sooners:

  • The Sooners are 7-2 with a 3-2 Big 12 record.
  • They are 6-0 at home.
  • Points against per game: 21.4 (39th)
  • Points for per game: 33.9 (25th)
  • Passing yards a game: 322.1 (6th)
  • Rushing yards a game: 138.99 (80th)

What to watch for:

  • Texas Tech Senior QB has thrown for 2,576 yards 24 TDs and 6 Ints. His favorite target has been Senior WR Lyle Leong who has 711 yards and 15 TDs. Leong has score 6 TDs the last 3 weeks.
  • Sooners Sophomore QB Landry Jones has thrown for 2,837 yards 22 TDs and 6 Ints. His favorite target has been Junior WR Ryan Broyles who has 1,077 yards and 8 TDs.
  • Sooners Senior RB DeMarco Murray has 832 rushing yards and 13 TDs. He has caught 50 balls this year for 358 yards and 3 TDs.

This is one of the tougher football picks of the week. It looks to be a shootout on paper in favor of Oklahoma. Texas Tech has a pretty good offense, but their defense has been their downfall. I can see Oklahoma putting up a 40 spot or so on Tech while Tech could keep it close, I think the Sooner defense will be able to handle their own. This should be a good bounce back win for the Sooners.
