Western Michigan Broncos (2-3) vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-3)

Saturday, October 16th, 2010 2:30PM ET

Line: Notre Dame -24.5

The Fighting Irish come in as heavily favorites in this matchup against the Broncos. They have won their last two games and are coming home to continue their stellar play. Western Michigan is coming off a strong win over Ball State last weekend; the team generated a total of 480 yards on offense.

Keys to the Game:

–          Western Michigan’s quarterback, Alex Carder had to do it all for this team to pull a win last weekend and that’s exactly how it turned out. Carder threw for 265 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 66 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Expect him to try and make some moves against the Irish defense.

–          Dayne Crist had a solid game last weekend throwing the ball for the Fighting Irish, throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown. He did a great job finding his receivers, Michael Floyd and Theo Riddick, each of them had 7 receptions. The Irish have an average of 284.5 passing yards this season behind Crist.

–          Notre Dame did an excellent job in their last two games; defeating Boston College and Pittsburgh. The two games were crucial wins for the team. They’re running game hasn’t been tremendous this season behind Allen Jr., but the team can survive with averaging 107 rushing yards a game with their sharp quarterback.

It’s not too long ago that Notre Dame was undergoing that three-game losing streak. But they did face some tough teams in Michigan State and Stanford. Western Michigan is in trouble. The Fighting Irish should be able to steamroll over this defense and pick up their fourth win of the season.
