Boise State Broncos at San Jose State Spartans

Saturday October 16, 2010 8:00 PM EST

Line: Boise State -41

Poor San Jose State, this is their 5th ranked opponent they face this year. They have played Alabama, Wisconsin, Utah, Nevada, and now Boise State. That has to be one of the toughest schedules in college football. The Spartans 1-5 coming into this WAC battle with an 0-1 WAC record. Boise State has played 2 ranked opponents and they are 5-0 this year with a 1-0 WAC record. The Broncos are 2-0 on the road this year with both victories coming by 50 points.

Boise State has looked great on defense holding opponents to 14.8 points a game, 11th best. Their offense has been stellar scoring 47.4 points a game. Their rushing game comes in at 15th with 224.8 yards a game. The Bronco passing game is 14th with 296.8 yards a game. Junior QB Kellen Moore is trying to keep his name in for the Heisman running. Moore has 1,336 yards 14 TDs and only 1 Int.

The Spartans have looked bad on both sides of the football. They are allowing 31.8 points a game on defense which is 99th overall. Their offense has only posted 10.3 points a game, which is worst in the nation. The Spartans are only posting 97.8 yards on the ground, 106th worst. Their passing game is averaging 171.3 yards which is 99th. If the Spartans want to cover the line, Senior QB Jordan La Secla will need to improve upon his 880 passing yards with 2 TDs and 5 Ints.

As football picks goes, this is one of those that you have to wonder. Can Boise State run up the score? No doubt. Has San Jose State lost by 41 in a game before? Yes twice, once at Alabama 48-3 and once at Utah 56-3. The question will be: Will this San Jose offense show up. They have no posted more than 16 points this season. I’ll take 41 points rooting for the underdog.
