Ohio State Buckeyes at Wisconsin Badgers

Saturday October 16th, 2010 7:00 PM EST

Line: Ohio -4

Overview:

The #1 Ohio Sate Buckeys travel into Wisconsin to take on the #18 Badgers. The Badgers are 4-1, losing only to Michigan State. Ohio State has not been tested very much this season and will look to prove to the nation that they belong in the number one stop in the nation.

Keys to the Game:

  • Terrell needs to have his best game of the year to silence the critics. The Heisman hopeful has been ridiculed for not having any performances that are of significance. Saying his schedule has been weak is true, but that is not in Pryor’s control. The amount of signature performances he can acquire this season is dwindling. People have stated his play against mediocre teams is irrelevant. With a solid outing against the Badgers, he could prove his worth. Nobody doubts his athletic ability, but is he the best college football player in the country?
  • John Clay and James White love to get behind their big offensive line and pick up six or seven yards in a cloud of dust. The Badgers make no secret about what they are trying to do offensively. They have a grinding offense that might take a while to get going, but will tire the opposition. Wisconsin’s offensive line is physical, but Ohio State has the talent to stand up to any offense’s physicality.
  • Scott Tolzien can’t get ahead of himself. He is doing exactly what his team needs to do. He is not the difference maker on the offense, but limiting errors and letting other people make plays is exactly what his team needs. By stepping out of his comfort zone and trying to do to much, he is setting himself up for failure. The Buckeyes are going to put pressure on him, but he favors shorter routes that take little time to develop. Tolzien is going to be fine as long as he doesn’t try to get ahead of himself.

Wrap Up:

Ohio State has a lot of people who doubt them. There are people who say Oregon is the best team in the country. Even Boise State continues to get the nod from some writers as the top team in college football. A victory over Wisconsin could provide the team with a rebuttal to the question, “Who have you played?” Big Ten teams are often times overrated. The Buckeyes are going to knock off the Badgers because their hopes at a National Championship and a Heisman Trophy winner depend on it.
