Wyoming Cowboys at Toledo Rockets

October 2nd 2010 7 PM EST

Line: Toledo 4 1/2

Overview:

3-1 Toledo faces off against the 1-3 Wyoming Cowboys. Toledo’s only loss came against a now ranked Arizona Wildcats football team. Wyoming has not impressed thus far, but they have not had an easy schedule so far, playing two teams in the top five already.

Keys to the Game:

  • Toledo is one of the worst teams Wyoming has seen all year. Although Toledo is favored, they do not compare to the other teams Wyoming has seen this season. Air Force has the number one rushing offense in the country. The Cowboys lost by only six. I see Toledo as the better team still, but Wyoming won’t be impressed by them after seeing Texas and Boise State.
  • Toledo is average on both sides of the ball. They will try to lead a balanced attack with Austin Dantin controlling the offense. Dantin already has four rushing touchdowns. In short yardage situations, Wyoming needs to spy Dantin with their Mike backer. Dantin will look to run if the Cowboys give him the chance to.
  • Wyoming has trouble putting up points. They scored a season high 28 points in their only win of the season. In each of their losses, they have been held to 14 points or less. The teams they lost to have talent all over the field, but nonetheless, the Cowboys struggle on offense. If the Rockets can hold them in the beginning of the game, don’t expect to see more than ten in this one.

Wrap Up:

I expect Toledo to put up around 30 or so points on Wyoming. If they lose, which I believe they will, Wyoming will be held to under 15. This makes it completely safe to take either Toledo -4 1/2, or the under. The over under is 50, so I think there will be some breathing room, even if the Toledo offense gets going.

College Football Pick: Under 50
