Troy Trojans (2-2) vs. Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (2-2)

Tuesday, October 5th, 8:00 PM EST

Line: Middle Tennessee -3.5

The Troy Trojans have had a season with its share of ups and downs. The Blue Raiders can say the same, as both Sun Belt teams meet up for this showdown on national television. Troy comes into this game ranked sixth in the nation, averaging 318.3 passing yards this season. Middle Tennessee, on the other hand, has had a solid season all-around. They’re equally led by their quarterback, Logan Kilgore and two talented running backs in Tanner and Kyles. Expect the Trojans to continue their strong passing game, behind the loose arm of Corey Robinson, who’s already thrown for 1,244 yards this season.

Keys to the Game:

–          Robinson has also thrown for eight touchdowns, and seems to be comfortable as the team’s leader in his freshmen year. His saving grace has been the experienced senior, Jerrell Jernigan. A short, 5’9’’ speedster that has already caught 31 balls for 384 yards and two touchdowns.

–          Middle Tennessee can make this a tough bet, considering they’ve shown up for half of their games. Their losses to Memphis and Minnesota makes it a lot easier to bet against them, as Troy has no respect for struggling secondary’s. They’ve allowed 23.8 points per game this season.

–          Both teams are coming off strong wins against decent opponents. It’s important to look at Troy’s tough encounter against Oklahoma State, where they only lost by three points after going toe-to-toe with a team that remains undefeated today at 4-0.

Look for Troy to continue their risky and dangerous passing game. Middle Tennessee will have its struggles stopping it, giving Troy the upper hand in this one. Troy also has a quiet running attack that produces solid yardage behind their two running backs in DuJuan Harris and Shawn Southward.
