Navy Midshipmen (2-1) vs. Air Force Falcons (3-1)

Saturday, October 2nd, 2:30 PM EST

Line: Air Force -10

This game should go by fast as these two teams rely heavily (and sometimes only) on their running game. Air Force is ranked number one in the nation in rushing yards per game, averaging 394 rushing yards a game this season. Both team have workhorse running backs in Air Force’s Jared Tew and Navy’s Vince Murray. Neither of them have terrible defenses either, so expect some solid scoring.

Keys to the Games

* Navy’s Ricky Dobbs is the senior quarterback for the Midshipmen, who loves to run the ball more than passing it. He leads his team with 73 carries for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Navy’s option-offense has worked for them so far, even though they faced a close loss against Maryland, the team scored 37 points in a win against Louisiana Tech before they’re bye week.

* Behind his two running backs, Air Force’s quarterback Tim Jefferson is having a solid season this year. He hasn’t passed the ball much, throwing for 66 yards last week, but can run the ball just as well as Dobbs can. Their two running backs Tew and Clark have both been able to cash in 724 rushing yards for the Falcons this season.

* There won’t be much of a passing show in this game whatsoever. Neither team is looking to break their running traditions. Air Force is averaging 105 passing yards this season, similar to Navy, who’s averaging 125.3 passing yards this season. Navy’s running game is ranked ninth in the season though, averaging 272.7 rushing yards this season.

This would be a terrific game to watch if you love to watch the run. Quarterbacks and running backs will utilize the option until one of the defensive lines collapse. Dobbs and Navy will be able to create some noise in this game with some big plays in the red zone,
