Free NCAA Football Pick: USC at Oregon State 11-20-2010

November 20, 2010

University of Southern California Trojans at Oregon State Beavers

Saturday November 20th, 2010 8:00 PM EST

Line: USC -3

4-5 Oregon State has had a disappointing season thus far. They are a team who has given USC fits in past seasons and will look to build on that success in this matchup. They will take on the 7-3 USC Trojans. While USC is usually at the top of the PAC 10, they are never safe in any PAC 10 game. USC has a histroy of losing to inferior conference games and did nothing to disspell that, as they lost to Washington earlier this season.

Keys to the Game:

  • Matt Barkley has dominated this season. He is lethaly accurate and takes advantage of his talented, young receiving corp. He is the face of the USC program and will undoubtedly be a high prospect when he is eligible for the draft. If this game comes down to a last minute drive, there are very few quarterbacks I would feel more comfortable putting money in the clutch.
  • James Rodgers being out has hurt the Beavers tremendously. Rodgers is a staple in the Oregon State offense. They need to find someone who can be as elusive as Rodgers in the receiving corp. Brother Jacquizz is still a vitol part of the offense, but the the brother tandem that made them so electrifying has been dismantled.
  • Oregon State will need to keep a watchful eye over Robert Woods. He is a freshman who has had a fantastic year in the USC offense this season. He has quickly become a reliable target for Matt Barkley and could have multiple touchdowns if the Beavers allow him to fall by the wayside.

Wrap Up:

There is a mystique about Corvallis, but Oregon State’s humiliating 17 point loss to Washington State at home last week should suffice as evidence enough to pick USC. The three point spread can be somewhat justified, due to USC’s shotty performance at Oregon State, but this is a different Oregon State team.
