NBA Pick Oklahoma City at Portland 11-4-10

Oklahoma City Thunder at Portland Trail Blazers

Thursday November 4, 2010 10:30 PM EST

Line: Portland -5

The Thunder did not start their 2 game west coast trip out right. They were the first team to lose against the Clippers last night. They have not played well on the road as they are 1-1 and the one win came by 1 over a Detroit team that is now 0-5. Portland went 3-1 on their most recent road trip and now get to come home where they are 1-0.

Stats to consider:

Oklahoma City Thunder:

  • The Thunder are 2-2 with a 1-1 road record.
  • Points against per game: 106.5 (22nd)
  • Points for per game: 100.5 (15th)
  • Rebounds per game: 44 (8th)
  • Assists per game: 15 (29)

Portland Trail Blazers:

  • The Blazers are 4-1 with a 1-0 home record.
  • Points against per game: 92.2 (4th)
  • Points for per game: 98.4 (18th)
  • Rebounds per game: 42.8 (10th)
  • Assists per game: 21.2 (14th)

What to watch for:

  • Kevin Durant is coming off his worst game of the season just last night. He went 6-24 shooting last night while only scoring a measly 16 points. Durant also had 6 TOs and he more than likely had nightmares all the way to Portland.
  • The Thunder are ranked in the bottom 3 in assists per game. PG Russell Westbrook is being counted on every game to lead this team in assists. Westbrook is averaging 20.8 PPG and 7 APG with 2.5 SPG.
  • The Blazers starting lineup has been very solid this season. Brandon Roy has shown that he is back to healthy and is complemented very well with guys like Andre Miller and LaMarcus Aldridge. Roy is averaging 21.8 PPG, Aldridge is averaging 18.8 PPG with 9.2 RPG, and Mller is averaging 12.4 PPG and 7.4 PPG.
  • The Blazers have been solid rebounding the ball this season. PF Marcus Camby has 7.4 PPG and 10.6 RPG. The question for this squad is not their starters, it’s their bench. They are getting 10.6 PPG from G Wesley Mathews but are only getting 5.4 PPG from SG Rudy Fernandez.

All sports picks come down to how complete teams are. The Blazers have a solid starting 5. The Thunder lack behind Durant and Westbrook, while Roy and Miller are surrounded by studs like Aldridge and Camby. The Blazers can play some solid defense and should find themselves out rebounding the Thunder. The Thunder have been poor on the road, with a 1-1 record.
