Boston Celtics (17-4) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (7-14)

Thursday, December 9th, 2010 8:00PM EST

Line: Boston -5

Overview:

The Celtics are coming off a dominating win against the Carmelo-less Nuggets, but will have to face a Sixers team that has been pretty hot as of late. The Sixers have won four out of their last five and are coming off a 20-point victory over the Cavaliers.

Keys to the Game:

–          Philadelphia seen numerous contributions from their young role players. Their top sixth-man, Thaddeus Young is making the push for a starting spot, scoring a season-high 26 points while nabbing 11 boards for the Sixers. Players such as Louis Williams and Andres Nocioni have also done a respectable job while coming off the bench for Philadelphia.

–         Boston returned to full-strength last night with Rajon Rondo and Shaquille O’Neal both in the starting line-up. Rondo led the Celtics to a big win over Denver, dishing 13 assists while letting Ray Allen rip it u for 28 points.

–        Sixers’ shooting guard, Jodie Meeks erupted for 26 points last Saturday against Charlotte, shooting 7-10 from behind the arc. The 23-year-old from Kentucky has stole the starting spot from Philly’s first round draft pick Evan Turner. Meeks is currently averaging 9.4 points while shooting 47% from behind the three point line.

Game Forecast:

Philadelphia will have some struggles keeping Boston from running their crisp play calling. Boston is first in the league in assists per game, and have a swift point guard in Rajon Rondo to help stir the chemistry for the Celtics. The Sixers will be clinging on to the shooting of Meeks and the scoring ability of one of their bench players in Louis Williams.
