Memphis Grizzlies (16-19) vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (24-13)

Saturday, January 8th, 2010 8:00PM EST

Line: Oklahoma City -7

Overview:

  • The Grizzlies have been decent basketball as of late. They’re 12th in the league this season in scoring and are 17th in points allowed. Zach Randolph recently had a big game for the team, scoring 31 points and 16 rebounds in a win over the Thunder earlier this week.
  • Mike Conley has done well for Memphis this season, averaging 13.6 points and 7.1 assists per game this season. He’s been able to do a little bit of everything while playing for the team’s back court and he leads the team in both assists and steals this year.
  • The Thunder had a great outing against the Mavericks on Thursday night, Kevin Durant led the crew in scoring with his 28 points. The Thunder are seventh in the league in scoring this season and are sitting second in their division.
  • Serge Ibaka recently declared for this year’s Slam Dunk Contest. The 6’10’’ power forward has been able to put up notable numbers in both rebounding and scoring this season for the Thunder. He’s averaging 9.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season.

Game Forecast:

Plenty of great scorers on both sides of the court in this game, the Grizzlies will need to maintain solid defense to slow down the Thunder’s variety of ways to score the basketball. Memphis should be able to keep it close if they continue the play they’ve had all week but  we have the answer.
