Denver Nuggets (1-0) v. New Orleans Hornets (1-0)

Friday, October 29th, 2010 8:00PM EST

Line: XX

Overview:

The Denver Nuggets kicked off their new season with Carmelo Anthony on board, the forward was able to tag 23 points and five rebounds in the team’s win over Utah. The Nuggets’ offense didn’t seem to lose a step, as the team had six players with double-digit points in their season debut. New Orleans savored the return of their savvy guard, Chris Paul. The Hornets were able to defeat the Bucks in their first season game, 91-94.

Keys to the Game:

–          Chris Paul looked terrific for the Hornets, scoring 16 points alongside his 17 assists. David West also has success alongside Paul, scoring 22 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

–          The Nuggets have taken better care of the ball so far this season, and have had some significant help down low from newcomer, Shelden Williams. The 6’9’’ power forward was able to snag 16 boards and score seven points for Denver.

–          The Hornets look to build off the leadership of Paul this year. If Paul remains healthy, players such as Marcus Thornton, Marco Belinelli, David West and Trevor Ariza could generate some great offense. Ariza was able to have a solid game all around the floor, with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the Hornets first season game.

Forecast:

The Hornets will look to weather the Nuggets’ scorching offense. Denver was able to beat down Utah 88-110 in their season debut, but the Hornets have a respective win over the Bucks. The Hornets have a great set of shooters and solid post game down low, but Denver should be able to shed the New Orleans defense in this meeting.
