San Antonio Spurs (1-1) v. Los Angeles Clippers (0-3)

Monday, November 1st, 2010 10:30PM EST

Line: San Antonio -7

Overview:

The Clippers were outmatched by the Mavericks yesterday; Blake Griffin struggled to hit his shots, shooting 4 for 15 from the field. The team has lost their first three games against talented-offensive teams in Portland, Golden State and now Dallas. The Spurs have recently extended the contract of their favored guard, Tony Parker. The team now has been able to both score and spread the ball well through the season, and their crafty playmakers in Ginobili and Duncan have showed no signs of rust this season.

Keys to the Game:

–          Manu Ginobili is averaging 22.5 in the team’s first two games. He had 22 points and 4 assists in the teams win over Indiana. Ginobili has been fonder with shooting from behind the arc this season, shooting 20 total three pointers and making seven of them so far.

–          Tony Parker is ready to squeeze a few more playoff runs out of this aging unit. So far the 28-year-old is averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 assists this season. In the team’s recent loss to New Orleans, Parker played limited minutes and scored 13 points.

–          Eric Gordon has picked up his role on the offense for the Clippers. The shooting guard has already shot 43 shots in his first three games, making 18 of them. He’s currently struggling from the three-point line, shooting 3 for 18, but has been able to average 16.7 points in his 32 minutes of play in each game this season.

Game Forecast:

The Spurs are averaging a total of 26.5 assists and 106 points per game this season as a team. They look stronger than last year; players such as Richard Jefferson and George Hill have showed poise. Vinny Del Negro and the Clippers aren’t looking to fall to 0-4 at home in this one, and the team should be able to put up a good fight if Gordon, Davis and Griffin can find some rhythm. Expect the Clippers to put up a good effort in what looks to be a rough loss.
