NBA Pick Miami at Cleveland 12-2-10

December 2, 2010

Miami Heat at Cleveland Cavaliers

Thursday December 2, 2010 5:05 PM EST

Line: Miami -5.5

The long waited return of the King, Lebron James returns to the town he turned his back on. Cleveland will be loud in this one, and the Cavs will bring their A-game with them. The Heat have won 2 straight, but haven’t won a road game since October 31 at New Jersey. Boston came into Cleveland on Tuesday and beat the Cavs 106-87.

Stats to consider:

Miami Heat:

  • Miami is 11-8 with a 2-5 road record.
  • Points allowed a game: 93.3 (5th)
  • Points scored per game: 100.4 (14th)
  • Rebounds per game: 41.2 (18th)
  • Assists per game: 19.7 (23rd)

Cleveland Cavaliers:

  • The Cavs are 7-10 with a 4-5 home record.
  • Points allowed per game: 99.9 (16th)
  • Points per game: 94.6 (27th)
  • Rebounds per game: 41.1 (19th)
  • Assists per game: 20.3 (20th)

What to watch for:

  • Heat SF Lebron James will be in the spotlight in this one. He leads the team with 23.4 PPG 7.5 APG and 1.6 SPG. He also has pitched in 5.7 RPG. He can’t do it alone so he will need good games out of SG Dwayne Wade and PF Chris Bosh. Wade has averaged 21.3 PPG 5.8 RPG and 4 APG. Bosh has averaged 17.9 PPG and 7.3 RPG.
  • The Cavs offense revolves around PG Mo Williams. Williams leads the team with 15.9 PPG 5.3 APG and 1.3 SPG. PG Daniel Gibson is second on the team in scoring with 13.1 PPG and has also added 3.1 RPG and 3.4 APG. The big men will need to come thru for the Cavs if they want to get the W in this one. Keep an eye on PF J.J. Hickson who has averaged 11.8 RPG and 5.8 RPG. PF Anderson Varejao leads the team with 9.1 RPG and 1.1 BPG. He has also pitched in 8.7 PPG.

This is the biggest game of the year for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They came out and laid a goose egg earlier this week against Boston, but this isn’t Boston. Miami has struggled on the road this season and haven’t won a road game in over a month. The Heat have struggled to get anyone to help off the bench and the Big 3 seem to be the only consistent starters for the Heat. Cleveland should get great play out of starters and players off the bench. They will keep this one close, and could win.
