Washington Wizards at Atlanta Hawks

Thursday November 25, 2010 5:00 PM EST

Line: Atlanta -8

Nothing like some turkey day basketball. Unfortunately for the Wizards, they don’t travel well and are 0-6 on the road. They have yet to win consecutive games this year and got a win Tuesday over Philly 116-114 in OT. The Hawks bring in a 3 game losing streak, and  what better remedy than a struggling team that can’t win on the road.

Stats to consider:

Washington Wizards:

  • Washington is 5-8 with an 0-6 road record.
  • Points allowed per game: 104.2 (24th)
  • Points scored per game: 97.9 (20th)
  • Rebounds per game: 39.5 (28th)
  • Assists per game: 21.5 (11th)

Atlanta Hawks:

  • Atlanta is 8-7 with a 3-5 home record.
  • Points allowed per game: 99.1 (13th)
  • Points scored per game: 99.5 (17th)
  • Rebounds per game: 39.7 (26th)
  • Assists per game: 23.9 (3rd)

What to watch for:

  • Wizards Rookie PG John Wall has had an immediate impact with 18.9 PPG 9.3 APG and 3 SPG. He has some good players around him as PF Andray Blatche has 16.7 PPG and 8 RPG. PG Gilbert Arenas has 16 PPG and 4.9 APG.
  • The Hawks are lead by their star SG Joe Johnson. Johnson has 17.5 PPG and 5.2 APG, both team  highs. C Al Horford is having a good season with 16.4 PPG and 9.3 RPG. PF Josh Smith has 15.6 PPG 8.7 RPG and 2.6 BPG.

This is a tough sports pick on Thanksgiving. The Hawks and Wizards did play before in Atlanta with a final of 99-95. The Wizards have not played well on the road and that very well should continue today. Atlanta will win this game, and I would have to imagine that this team is looking to make a statement after losing 3 straight. Atlanta got off to such a hot start, but I expect them to bring their A game in this one and put it too the Wizards.
