New York Jets at Buffalo Bills

Sunday October 3rd 1 PM EST

Line: New York Jets -6

The Buffalo Bills made an admirable outing last week against the New England Patriots, but fell short. The New York Jets defeated the 2-0 Miami Dolphins, to move them to 2-1. With their one loss coming against the Ravens, the Jets are one of the most feared teams in the NFL. The Bills on the other hand, are still defeated, in every way a team can be defeated.

Keys to the Game:

  • The Bills can’t hide C.J. Spiller. Spiller accounted for two Buffalo touchdowns, including a 95 yard kickoff return. The Bills didn’t draft him as high as he went to have him play second fiddle to anyone. If they don’t want to be the worst team in the NFL, the Bills are going to need to work him into the game plan. He has struggled early, but he is their most dangerous weapon on the roster. Now that he finally displayed his talents on an NFL stage, his confidence should be up.
  • Mark Sanchez is playing the smartest football of his life. Six touchdowns, ZERO interceptions. Mark Sanchez was criticized for heaving the ball into traffic. Prior to the season, he was seen as the weak link on the team. If he can be a fantastic game manager, rather than try to be an elite quarterback, the Jets will win more football games. Sanchez is on a great football team. The worst thing he can do is turn the ball over. It seems he realizes now that being safe and smart is going to be the best approach he can have. Sanchez has made plays when he can and checked the ball down when the deep threat isn’t available. Calm, cool, and collected, Sanchez has matured considerably since last year.
  • Darrelle Revis doesn’t matter in this one. Lee Evans is going to be a non factor and they have no one on the other side. Weapons are limited, the Bills are going to struggle on the ground, and oh ya, Ryan Fitzpatrick is throwing the rock around now. They like Fitzpatrick’s mobility, but that won’t help him against a swarming Jets defense. Revis needs to take this one off. His team needs him at 100 percent when they play the Vikings.

Wrap up:

The Bills kept it close in two games. The Patriots looked like they were going to blow out the Bills multiple times throughout the game. Every time, it seemed the Bills had an answer. They never let the game get out of hand. The Packers defeated them comfortably, but the Dolphins struggled. This is an awful team, but they seem to have what it takes to cover some of the time. I don’t think the Jets are going to let them keep it close. Fitzpatrick might have been able to have a somewhat decent game against the Pats, but this is a different beast. In my Sports picks last week, I had the Pats destroying the Bills by 12+. This week, it is easier for me to say the Jets will beat them by a touchdown.
